Chikara Imamura - Conductor

 

Chikara Imamura, Associate and then Regular Guest Conductor of the National Opera in Warsaw, conduct since 2002 “Madama Butterfly” and “Japanese Evening” in 2008 and 2010 by the celebration of diplomatic relations between Poland and Japan. He is prize winner of the 2nd Fitelberg Competition for Conductors in Katowice 1983.In 2009 conducted Imamura as a Music Director for premiere of “Samson et Dalila” at the Opera Wroclaw, in coproduction with Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Opéra Royal de Wallnie Liége, Fondazione Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste. He conducted “Nabucco” in 2012 in Japan and 9th Symphony of Beethoven at the Musikvereinsaal in Vienna in 2013. He is the President of the Japan Lutosławski Society since 2013 and member of the committee “Forum Poland” in Japan. He was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit, Odznakę honorową “Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej”,by Minister of Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski on 10.October 2013.

Maria Yavroumi is one of the most talented and prominent Greek pianists of the young generation. She was born in Tripolis and started her piano lessons taught by her father, Nikolaos Yavroumis, at the age of 6. In 2000 she graduated from Attikon Conservatory with distinction, under the teaching of Dimitris Toufexis.


She has a Bachelor Degree in Music - specialization: Piano Performance, by the University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki). In 2009 she got her Master degree in music, on "Lied, Oratorio and Accompaniment" by Nova University of Lisbon and in 2010 she concluded her post-graduate sMaria Yavroumi has been performing as a soloist and chamber music musician in Greece, England, Portugal and Poland. She is cooperating with many orchestras, like Lower Silesia Philharmonic Orchestra, Sudeten Philharmonie, Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra and others. Her interpretations of piano concertos by Bach, Mozart and Chopin established her presence in the musical world. John Blakely, Roger Vignoles, Dimitris Toufexis, Wolfram Schmitt-Leonardy and Dariusz Mikulski are a few of her mentors and musical partners.
Along with the classical piano repertoire, Maria Yavroumi works with great devotion on the 20th and 21st century repertoire, specializing in the works of Greek composers, like Yannis Constantinidis, Manos Hatzidakis, Constantinos Kydoniatis, among others.
