Marco Tezza - Piano

 

Marco Tezza was born in Vicenza in 1964. He attended the Conservatory of music in Vicenza, studying piano with Milde Molinari, Carlo Mazzoli and violin with Giovanni Guglielmo and Giuliana Padrin.

He earned his diploma with distinction and honourable mention in piano in 1984. He further refined his knowledge in Italy (Imola Accademy) with Jorg Demus, Gyorgy Sandor and Bruno Canino, and in France with Aquiles Delle Vigne, attending the Ecole Normale "A. Cortot" of Paris, where he obtains the "Diplome Superieur d'Exècution.

Prizewinner in major International Piano Competions - Busoni in Bolzano, William Kapell in Maryland – in 1999, aged only 24, he won the World Music Piano Master in Montecarlo.

He regularly performs in prestigious worldwide Festivals - La Roque d’ Anthéron, Loeckenhaus , Yokohama Piano Festival , Israel Festival in Jerusalem, Festival Berlioz à la Cote st- André, Nuits Romantiques à Aix les Bains, Australian Chamber Music Festival, Benedetti Michelangeli Festival in Bergamo & Brescia, Festival Jacques Klein in Rio de Janeiro – and also in distinguished music societies and series such as Salle Gaveau, Musée d’ Orsay, Auditorium du Louvre, Kennedy Center in Washington, Sala Cecilia Meireles in Rio de Janeiro, Gasteig in Munich .

He has been soloist in important Orchestral Seasons - Philarmonique de Montecarlo, Symphonic de Barcelon y de catalana, Zurich Kammer Orchestra,New Japan Philarmonic Orchestra, Orchestra Toscanini di Parma, where he collaborated with conductors such as Emmanuel Krivine, Armin Jordan, Howard Griffiths, Donato Renzetti, Brian Wright.

His performances have been reviewed by remarkable international press magazines.

His discography also includes all Chopin Etudes - recorded for Phoenix Classics either on modern piano and on two different XIX century original pianofortes – and the complete works for piano by Bach – Busoni, edited by Tudor . As an avid chamber music performer, he focuses a large part of his activity to new partnerships and musical literature, with a particular attention to contemporary music. In November 2006 Azio Corghi writes and dedicates him and his regular duo partner Silvia Chiesa a new work for cello and piano, D’ après cinq chansons d’ élite.

In December 2007, he has been invited to celebrate 100 years Salle Gaveau’ s anniversary in Paris together with artists such as Martha Argerich, Nelson Freire, Jean Marc Luisada. In May 2008, he has been invited by French famous musicologist Alain Duault for the TV program “ Toute la Musique qu’ ils aiment “ and regularly performs in live broadcasted concerts and programs for RADIO Tre Rai, France Musique, NHK Television, etc....

In March 2009, he published for DECCA Beethoven Liszt Symphony n° 9 recording, followed by Liszt Twelve Transcendental Studies in 2010 published for Decca. In 2011, Decca publishes “Rêves “, a Liszt Anniversary cd, plus a Brahms and Schubert recording with Silvia Chiesa. In 2010, he performed the world “ première “ of Azio Corghi Concerto for piano and orchestra, with Rai Orchestra in Turin, conducted by Arturo Tamayo.

In 2005, he founded, as artistic director, the Amiata Piano Festival and the Dionysus Music, Art and Multimedia Festival, which takes place every year in the outstanding wine Cellar of Collemassari, in Poggi del Sasso ( Cinigiano ) , Grosseto. He was artistic director of the Concerts at Palazzo Reale, Pisa, from 2011 and 2013 and created the artistic events at the Fazioli Showroom in Milan. Since 2008, he works together with Alain Duault for the new chamber music Festival “les Musiques de Montcaud “, France. On March, 2013, he was appointed Artistic Director of Giuseppe Verdi Theatre in Pordenone, Italy.

In 2011, for the Franz Liszt Anniversary celebrations, he gives performances inside prestigious international TV programs such as “ SKY CLASSICA TV “and FRANCE 5 “ sur les pas de Liszt “. In 2012, he publishes Carnaval, his latest cd containing Robert Schumann major piano works.

With Dr. Giuseppe Andrea L'Abbate, he created a multimedia project presenting works by Debussy, Bartok, Moussorgsky and Schumann, triumphing at the Roque d' Antheron Festival 2013 ( www.webpiano.it ).

Fond of hard running, he took part in Paris, Berlin and Pisa marathons and is now preparing Amsterdam and New York. Maurizio Baglini plays on Fazioli Grand Pianos.
